Media Advisory (May 19, 2008)
CAMS and CAIPA make financial donation to help victims of the earthquake in China
Chinese American Medical Society (CAMS) and Chinese American Independent Practice Association (CAIPA) held a press conference on Monday, May 19, 2008 at Elizabeth Street, CAIPA and CAMS office to express their deepest sympathies to all those affected by the devastating earthquake in southwestern China. Under the leadership of Dr. Wilson Ko, President of CAMS and Dr. George Liu, President of CAIPA, the organizations as well as many of their individual members have raised over $50,000 in contributions.
Our thoughts go out to all the victims their families. A tragedy of this magnitude will require much funding for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction. The American Red Cross has always been at the forefront of delivering assistance for disaster relief throughout the world. We applaud the CCBA's support of the American Red Cross. CAMS and CAIPA are sister organizations of medical professionals and students that serve Chinese communities and it is most fitting that we contribute to the rescue efforts as well. We urge everyone to support this great cause.
