Hi,
First, let me
thank the CAMS board for hosting this site as a service to its
members and the general public. This site is intended for
anyone who likes to know and learn about Chinese language and
culture. It is almost 15 months since we start the project.
I am convinced
that the most efficient way to learn and advance your Chinese
language skill is to use
Chinese reading software and
Chinese
internet
files. I have created a number of
documents on this site to show you my points. For your
convenience, my files include a list of Chinese characters with
Pinyin. Please copy and paste these words in your Chinese
reading files to create your own vocabulary list. CAMS and I
have no commercial ties to any of the sites or products
mentioned here. I merely discuss the ones with which I am most
familiar.
The first group of files
Tips in Learning Chinese is intended
to familiarize you with Chinese files. It includes information
on how to make a Chinese file recognizable by your computer,
different Chinese file formats and links to Chinese Internet
sites. Go to this site to learn how to open a Chinese File,
use Chinese reading software and use internet files to learn
Chinese (Most efficient and interesting way to learn
Chinese ) The single best way to strengthen your
Chinese skills is to practice regularly and the Internet allows
ready access to interesting material at varying levels of
difficulty. You can view excerpts from Chinese literature,
newspaper and magazine articles, cartoons and even restaurant
menus. Even an expert can find enough material to last a lifetime.
Chinese
Lessons and Interesting Facts include
the 2nd and 3rd groups. The second group, is a collection
of excerpts and summaries from the above Internet sites. I
have compiled a list of highlights that I think will be interesting
and helpful to students learning Chinese. The third group
is an assortment of facts about Chinese culture as a whole.
Learning more about ourselves and others is the foundation
for better mutual understanding and communication.
The fourth group
Learn Chinese From Paintings deals with Chinese
paintings and calligraphy. These files explore the aesthetic
imagery and language featured on a number of Chinese paintings.
Thanks to my friend Chitfu Yu (http://www.cfyu.com/)
who has given me permission to use his art to demonstrate
some of my points.

Now we are developing a
fifth group
of files, Medical
Chinese . We will try to make learning Chinese more pertinent
to medical personnel. New York Downtown Hospital, William Wang ,
John Choi and their staffs at CCPH and patient advocates will
work with me to launch a learning Chinese workshop soon.
Hopefully this will prove to be useful for improving patient
care.
The
sixth group will be your
comments and
inputs.
My primary
objective in creating this site is to share my ideas about the
learning of Chinese and to motivate my children and friends.
Learning Chinese language can be very frustrating , I hope
that this site makes the process more enjoyable and rewarding.
I want to thank TekWiz for his help and now WanZhen for
designing this wonderful, attractive page for you to navigate.
Please share this with your friends.
