The Chinese American Medical Society, a national organization, was organized in 1963 in New York City and has since become a national organization with over 1,000 members. The purposes of the Society are to advance scientific association of medical professionals of Chinese descent and to promote health care of Chinese Americans.
The Chinese American Medical Society membership is open to physicians, dentists, and
scientists in the field of medicine who support the objectives of the Society. There are Lifetime Members, Regular Members, Associate Members and Student Members:
- Lifetime Membership ($2,000) and Regular Membership ($200/year)
Open to persons who are graduates of medical, osteopathic and dental schools, as well as doctoral graduates in health-related disciplines from accredited academic institutions who are actively engaging in clinical practice, pursing post-graduate specialty training or holding responsible positions in teaching, research or health administration.
- Associate Members ($25/year)
Associate members are limited to para-medical personnel in the medical field who have outstanding achievement, upon recommendations by one active member and seconded by another member.
- Resident Members ($25/year)
- Student Members (free)
Student members are limited to students enrolled in accredited medical or dental schools as well as doctoral students from health-related academic institutions.
There are annual dues for members and reduced dues for residents in training. Dues are waived for student members.
